Four days in the test chamber: CE, FCC and CCC for a reflow oven monitor
After two and a half years of development we tested the horus monitoring system in Dongguan against three regulatory frameworks. Passed, with a lesson about anodised aluminium.
In March 2026 the reflow oven monitoring system for globalPoint, now part of Kurtz Ersa, faced its last milestone: EMC certification. Four days at the NTC lab in Dongguan, three frameworks at once: CE for Europe, FCC for the USA, CCC for China.
The system: a central Linux compute module with a WAN uplink and seven PoE ports, a temperature measurement module with up to 36 points directly inside the oven, and a digital I/O module for IO-Link sensors. nabla B was responsible for the system architecture, Odin Holmes for firmware and layout, Tabea Bökelmann for the frontend.
The test programme: burst, surge, power interruption, radiated and conducted emissions and immunity, magnetic field, ESD. We had pre-tested in Germany, all housings are aluminium, the cables M12 Cat5e SF/UTP. We still passed only because we could rework on site: the anodised layer nearly broke the shield path at the M12 connectors.
Certification preparation and lab support in Germany, China and the USA are part of our services. The full test report in narrative form is on the blog.
